Imagine a web site that is only constructed with words formatted in HTML text. No products images, logos etc but only keyword-rich HTML text. It would become very hard for that site to sell its products as buyers like to see images of products that they buy online. Similarly a site with only images but no text will also have a v low conversion rate.
In a recent study from Consumer Web Watch, over 2,600 participants were asked to rate the credibility of web sites based on a variety of factors. The study’s results showed that the two most important factors for credibility were “Design Look” (46.1%) and “Information Design/Structure” (28.5%).
Of course, all web sites should be designed and written primarily with the target audience in mind, but your target audience will probably be using the search engines to find the products, services, and information offered on your site.
Therefore it becomes very important to design a site with consumer friendly ‘look’, easy to understand the ‘information’ it provides and even more importantly uses the search engine optimized keywords for its target audience.
A web site must be easy to navigate and easy to use. It must be distinctive. It must make a visual impact and look interesting at the same time. Basically the site should be user friendly with interface and navigation simple and reliable. The information should be relevant to that site and target the area of the public that the website is concerned with. Finally the graphics and text should show consistency throughout with a professional, appealing and relevant appearance.
